Adhesion Test

Adhesion refers to the bond strength measurement of a coating or film to a substrate. Adhesion testing is used to determine if the film or coating will adhere properly to the substrates to which they are applied.

STEMart carries out a variety of adhesion testing on adhesives, tape, sealants, laminates, electronics, cosmetics, medical device packaging at different temperatures to simulate real world use for the materials.

Adhesion Testing Types

  • Pull-off adhesion testing: Measure the resistance of a coating to separation from a substrate when a perpendicular tensile force is applied.
  • Cross cut adhesion testing: Determine the resistance of films and coatings to separation from substrates by utilizing a tool to cut a right-angle lattice pattern into the coating, penetrating to the substrate.
  • Scrape adhesion testing: Determine the adhesion of organic coatings when applied to smooth, flat panel surfaces, mainly some sort of sheet metals.
  • Bond strength testing: Determine the bond strength of adhesives when tested on a single-lap-joint specimen on a metal-to-metal bonded test panel.

STEMart's expert team can advise on which adhesion testing solution is best for your specific requirements depending on the project goal. For more information about our adhesion testing services, please contact us.
