Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) is a bioactive lysophospholipid that acts through its six cognate G protein-coupled receptors. LPA signaling is involved in many physiological processes such as cell proliferation, chemotaxis, and smooth muscle contraction, as well as cell surviva. Recent studies suggest that LPA may play an important role in the pathophysiology of cancer and may be used as a biomarker for ovarian cancer. Lysophosphatidic acid antibody (504B3) was originally developed and patented by Lpath Therapeutics.
