Neonicotinoid insecticide Thiamethoxam belongs to 1,3,5-oxadiazines derivatives. And neonicotinoids are synthetic compounds similar in structure to nicotine. They have a common mode of action (binding to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors) that affects the central nervous system of insects, making them active against a broad spectrum of insects. It is also an endogenic insecticide that can be absorbed through the roots of plants and transferred to leaves, flowers and pollen, making it an ideal candidate for seed coating.
