Official Full Name: Rho guanine nucleotide exchange factor 11
Also known as: GTRAP48; PDZ-RHOGEF
Rho GTPases play an important role in many cellular processes initiated by extracellular stimuli through G protein-coupled receptors. The encoded protein likely forms a complex with the G protein and stimulates rho-dependent signaling. In rats, a similar protein interacts with the glutamate transporter EAAT4 and regulates its glutamate transport activity. Expression of the rat protein induces reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton and its overexpression induces membrane ruffling and formation of filamentous feet. Two alternative transcripts encoding different isoforms have been described.
