Official Full Name: ephrin A4
Also known as: EFL4; EPLG4; LERK4; LERK-4
This gene encodes a member of the ephrin (EPH) family. Ephrin and Eph-related receptors comprise the largest subfamily of receptor protein tyrosine kinases and are involved in mediating developmental events, particularly in the nervous system and erythropoiesis. According to their structure and sequence relationship, ephrin can be divided into ephrin-A (EFNA) class and transmembrane protein ephrin-B (EFNB) class that are fixed on the membrane by glycosylphosphatidylinositol linkage. This gene encodes an EFNA-like ephrin that has been implicated in the proliferation and metastasis of several types of cancer.
