Analysis of Follistatin (Human) by MSD Hypersensitive Multi-Factor Electrochemiluminescence Analyzer (CAT#: STEM-MB-0189-LGZ)

Introduction

Follistatin, also known as FSH inhibitory protein, is a single-chain glycoprotein. Follistatin, as the binding protein of Activin (ACT), regulates the reproductive activity of animals through the Activin/Follistatin system. Follistatin combines with many members of the transforming growth factor-13 (TGF-β) superfamily in a paracrine or autocrine manner, such as BMP, bone morphognic protein, myostatin, etc., and plays an important role in organs and tissues other than the reproductive system. Moreover, research results have found that it has an important regulatory effect on animal muscle growth. Follistatin can bind to the C-terminus of myostatin, thereby inhibiting the binding of myostatin to receptors and promoting skeletal muscle development.

Principle

MSD electrochemiluminescence technology is mainly based on ultra-sensitive multi-factor electrochemiluminescence analyzer MES0 Sector600 or Quickplex SQ120. Through dot matrix technology, the detection of 10 indicators per well can be realized in the 96-hole graphite electrode plate. It can also be customized to realize the screening detection of 100 index wells in a 24-well plate.

Applications

Muscle Injury, Immunology/Inflammation, Toxicology

Procedure

1. Coat the capture antibody on the well plate.
2. Add samples/calibrators.
3. Add detection antibody.
4. Read the plate and analyze the data.

Materials

• Sample Type: Plasma, Serum
