Analysis of RBP4 (Human) by MSD Hypersensitive Multi-Factor Electrochemiluminescence Analyzer (CAT#: STEM-MB-0520-LGZ)

Introduction

Retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) belongs to the apolipoprotein family and is a specific carrier of retinol (vitamin A alcohol) in the blood. It transports retinol from the liver to peripheral tissues. Recently, RBP4 was identified as an adipokine that contributes to insulin resistance in AG4KO mice. It is secreted by fat cells and signals to other cells when blood sugar levels drop. Mutations in the RBP4 gene are associated with autosomal dominant microphthalmia, anophthalmos, and ocular tissue loss.
