Analysis of SELENBP1 Gene (Mutation) by RT-qPCR (CAT#: STEM-MT-0651-LGZ)

Introduction

Official Full Name: selenium binding protein 1
Also known as: MTO; LPSB; SP56; hSBP; EHMTO; SBP56; HEL-S-134P
This gene encodes a member of the selenium-binding protein family. Selenium is an essential nutrient with powerful anti-cancer properties, and a lack of it may lead to certain neurological disorders. The role of selenium in the prevention of cancer and neurological diseases may be mediated by selenium-binding proteins, and reduced expression of this gene may be associated with several types of cancer. The encoded protein may play a selenium-dependent role in ubiquitination/deubiquitination-mediated protein degradation. Alternative splicing transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene.

Principle

Quantitative reverse transcription PCR (RT-qPCR) is an experimental method applied to PCR experiments using RNA as the starting material. In this method, total or messenger RNA (mRNA) is first transcribed into complementary DNA (cDNA) by reverse transcriptase. Subsequently, qPCR reaction was performed using cDNA as template.

Applications

Gene mutation analysis.

Procedure

1. Sample processing and preparation of PCR reaction system.
2. Add the amplification template, cover the PCR reaction cover, mix well, centrifuge at low speed instantaneously, and transfer to the PCR instrument.
3. Set the program for PCR amplification.
4. Data analysis.
