Analysis of Total Protein (TP) by Ultraviolet-visible Spectrophotometer (CAT#: STEM-MB-1337-LGZ)

Introduction

Sensitivity: 0.373 g/L
Detection range: 0.373-80 g/L
Precision: inter-lot difference of 2.6%, intra-lot difference of 1.2%
Detection equipment: Ultraviolet-visible Spectrophotometer
Detection wavelength: 540 nm

Principle

Any compound containing two amino formyl groups (-CONH2) in the molecule can react with alkaline copper solution to form purple complex, this reaction is called biuret reaction, protein molecules with many peptide bonds (-CONH-) can produce this reaction, all proteins have the same degree of color development.

Applications

For the determination of TP in serum, plasma, animal and plant tissue samples.

Procedure

1. Prepare standard samples and experimental samples.
2. Add reaction reagents in order for reaction.
3. Measure the absorbance of each tube.
4. Make the mark curve and calculate the result.

Materials

• Sample Type: serum, plasma, animal and plant tissue samples
