Official Full Name: WD repeat containing, antisense to TP73
Also known as: WDR8
This gene encodes a member of the WD repeat protein family. The WD repeat is a minimally conserved region of approximately 40 amino acids, usually surrounded by gly-his and trp-asp (GH-WD), that may facilitate heterotrimeric or multiprotein complex formation. Members of this family are involved in a variety of cellular processes, including cell cycle progression, signal transduction, apoptosis, and gene regulation. Studies of related mouse proteins suggest that the encoded protein may play a role in the ossification process.
