Beckman Optima XL-80K Ultracentrifuge, 80000 rpm, model XL-80K, is manufactured by Beckman Coulter. The Beckman Optima™ XL-80 K Ultracentrifuge is designed to produce strong centrifugal forces to achieve efficient particle separations. Capable of 80,000 rpm maximum speed, this high performance centrifuge delivers the fastest separation rates in the minimum amount of time. This Beckman centrifuge employs the ESP™ Efficient Sedimentation Program, a system that stimulates gradient formation and accelerates the separation of sample components through a wide selection of rotors. The Optima™ XL-80 K centrifuge is able to perform common centrifugation-related calculations such as CsCl speed reductions and run conversions. Also, the imbalance-tolerant drive allows visual balancing of rotor loads, while eliminating the need for users to weigh individual samples. Equipped with a microprocessor-controlled system similar to all other Optima™ XL Series units, the XL-80 K enables fast, interactive, and menu-driven operation using advanced software functions and simple user setup. Additionally, the unit provides a program library which can accommodate up to nine standard programs. This Beckman centrifuge’s accel/decel profiles allow immediate customization of operating conditions. The dual display of “Set” and “Actual” run parameters also let users easily monitor run conditions. Other attributes of the Beckman Optima™ XL-80 K Centrifuge include an air-cooled drive and thermoelectric heating/cooling system, a high-torque direct drive induction motor, and a buit-in rotor and tube catalog.
