The preparative isoelectric focusing cell of the brand Bio-Rad type Rotofor is designed for protein purification by using liquid phase isoelectric focusing (IEF) to separate proteins into 20 fractions in free solution. In addition, the Bio-Rad Rotofor Prep IEF Cell processes protein quantities from micrograms to grams. The Bio-Rad Rotofor is ideally suited for the isolation of uncharacterised proteins from raw or partially purified samples. Selected fractions from an initial run can be collected, pooled and re-fractionated, allowing up to 1000-fold purification.
