Chemical Change

A chemical change is a change of materials into another, new materials with different properties and one or more than one new substance are formed. All biopharmaceutical compounds including peptides, proteins, vaccines, or virus are sensitive towards chemical degradation, such as deamidation, hydrolysis, oxidation, photo-degradation, disulfide-scrambling, and others. Chemical degradation can lead to aggregation, charge variants and/or structural changes of the drug substance and eventually impair the effectivity or safety of the therapy.
