A dissolved oxygen meter (DO meter) is a device using an electrochemical, polarographic, amperometric, galvanic, or optical sensor to measure the amount of oxygen dissolved water or solution which enables the user to indicate the level of water quality. Dissolved oxygen measurement is an essential test to verify the integrity of oxygen supply systems for biological activity in reactors and sewage facilities where bacteria and biomass are grown for water treatment. DO is an important water quality parameter that effects marine life, the taste of drinking water, and the corrosiveness of a water sample. Common applications include groundwater remediation, wastewater, aquariums, and fish hatcheries.
