A gene microarray, also known as a gene chip, is a special glass or silicon wafer that contains the DNA microarray. Thousands or tens of thousands of nucleic acid probes installed on an area of several square centimeters can provide a large amount of genetic sequence-related information through a single test. Gene microarrays are a tool for genomics and genetics research, with the advantages of rapid, accurate and low-cost bioanalytical tests. Protein microarrays place different bioactive proteins in different pores of microplates for protein function screening. Protein microarrays can track a large number of proteins in parallel and have the advantages of being fast, automated, economical, and highly sensitive.
