Laboratory Rocker and Shaker & Accessory

A rocker or shaker is an ideal instrument used for a variety of applications including cell culture, DNA extraction, uniform suspension, sample preparation, low foaming agitation, mixing reagents, hybridization procedures, and staining and destaining gels and blots. Rockers are benchtop devices that move stationary vessels side to side in a rocking motion. The platform moves back and forth at a controlled tilt angle, ideal for applications requiring low-speed, low-impact agitation such as staining, washing, and hybridization. In contrast, shakers utilize a platform that oscillates horizontally. This type of motion is well-suited for applications requiring higher agitation speeds, such as cell culture, protein extraction, and mixing viscous samples. Shakers can vary significantly in size to accommodate different types of culture flasks, beakers, dishes, plates, bottles and tubes. Incubator shakers are also available for temperature-sensitive samples.
