An oil bath is a type of heating bath used for laboratories, most commonly for heating chemical reactions. Oil bath is a hot bath method that uses oil as the hot bath material. Commonly used oils include soybean oil, cottonseed oil, etc. The maximum temperature of the oil bath is higher than that of the water bath, generally between 100°C and 250°C. It is most commonly used in research laboratories for reactions that require heating temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius. Oil baths provide more uniform heat compared to other heaters.
