Description

CDI amine-reactive agarose is activated by 6% cross-linked agarose with CDI (1,1′-carbonyldiimidazole) to form a reactive imidazole carbamate.

Activation of the resin takes place in a solvent, and to maintain its activity, the resin is supplied in acetone to prevent hydrolysis. In an alkaline (pH 8.5-10) aqueous buffer, imidazole carbamate loses the imidazole group and forms a carbamate bond when the resin reacts with molecules containing primary amines (i.e. proteins).

CDI Amine Reaction Agarose is ideal for immobilizing peptides, small organic molecules, and certain proteins, and the reaction can occur in organic solvents, making it ideal for water-insoluble ligands.
