Detection of Amino Acids in Plant Tissues

Amino acids are essential nutrients which have a unique promotion effect on growth of plant. Besides providing the basic components for protein synthesis, many amino acids play important roles in plant development. For example, glycine can increase plant chlorophyll content, raise enzyme activity, promote carbon dioxide penetration, and make photosynthesis more vigorous. In addition, amino acids serve as precursors for many primary and secondary metabolites.

Besides their role as nutraceutical molecules, many amino acids are involved in the plant environmental stresses defense. Proline, glycine, glutamate, and glutamine function in disease resistance and defense against both biotic and abiotic stresses, including drought, salinity, light and UV irradiation, heavy metals, and pathogens.

The amino acid composition is also a key parameter for assessing the nutritional quality of proteins in food and feed materials.

The analysis of the composition and contents of amino acids in the plant is not only of great significance for the study of biological metabolism but also can be used to evaluate the nutritional value and physiological status of the samples.

STEMart is able to efficiently and accurately determine the composition and content of amino acids in plant tissues.
