Southern Blot was created by the British southerner in 1975. It is a basic technique for studying DNA maps and is of great value in the diagnosis of genetic diseases, DNA map analysis and PCR product analysis. To evaluate crops produced by new breeding techniques, recombinant DNAs (RNAs) from foreign genes, including short rDNA(s) introduced unintentionally, are removed. We can detect such short RNAs using Southern blot analysis.
