Detection of Vitamins in Plant Tissues

Plant-derived vitamins are a kind of micronutrient which is not only required for the regulation of cell growth, development and metabolism of plant, but also essential to maintain human health. Vitamins are a large family, dozens of vitamins are known at present, which can be roughly classified into fat-soluble and water-soluble categories depending on their hydrophobicity.

The detection of plant vitamins generally includes two steps: extraction and purification of vitamin, and identification of vitamin.

STEMart is able to efficiently and accurately detect the change of vitamins in plant samples with high-performance liquid chromatography, liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, and biochemical methods.

Methods for Vitamin Extraction and Purification

  • Ultrasonic assisted extraction (UAE)
  • Supercritical fluid extraction (SFE)
  • Solid phase extraction (SPE)
  • Liquid–liquid extraction (LLE)
  • Dispersive liquid–liquid micro-extraction (DLLME)

Methods for Vitamin Identification

  • Chromatography methods
  • Electrophoretic methods
  • Microbiological assays
