Galangoisoflavonoside was isolated from the rhizomes of Alpinia galanga. Methanolic extract of Alpinia galanga was subjected to column chromatography and eluted with ethyl acetate-methanol (9:1) to yield compound (AG 12) Galangoisoflavonoside. The structure of newer compound was elucidated by various spectral techniques (UV, IR, 1 HNMR, 13 CNMR, and MS). Chemical investigation of the methanolic extract of the rhizomes of Alpinia galanga furnished a new flavonoid (AG 12) Galangoisoflavonoside.
