Introduction

Sulfide is an inorganic anion of sulfur with the chemical formula S2- or a compound containing one or more S2- ions. Solutions of sulfide salts are corrosive.
Many metal sulfides are so insoluble in water that they are probably not very toxic. Some metal sulfides, when exposed to a strong mineral acid, including gastric acids, will release toxic hydrogen sulfide.




Principle

Atomic fluorescence spectroscopy (AFS) is the emission of radiation energy in the UV-visible region from gas-phase atoms that have been excited to higher energy levels by absorption of radiant energy. Usually, a flame is used to obtain the atom in a gaseous state. It is a radiative emission process that proceeds from the lowest singlet (S1) to the singlet ground state(S0).
