Gas Chromatography Technology

Gas Chromatography (GC) is a chromatography technology method using gas as the mobile phase. The gas chromatograph is mainly composed of a gas system, a sample injection system, a separation system, a detection, and temperature control system, and a recording system. Typical uses of gas chromatography include testing the purity of a particular substance or separating the different components of a mixture. In preparative chromatography, gas chromatography can be used to prepare pure compounds from a mixture.

Procedure
  • Sample introduction
The sample is first introduced into the gas chromatograph using a syringe or autosampler.
The sample and mobile phase enter the analytical column together. The analytical column is held in the column oven which is heated during the analysis to elute the less volatile components.
  • Sample detection
The detector responds to the chemical components eluted from the column to produce a signal.
  • Sample analysis
Record the signal with the acquisition software on the computer to produce a chromatogram. The desired components can be collected.
Features
  • High separation efficiency and high detection sensitivity: for ultra-pure gas, trace impurity analysis of polymer monomers, and trace poison analysis in the air.
  • Small sample consumption and fast analysis speed: generally, use a few milliliters for gas samples, and a few microliters or tens of microliters for liquid samples.
  • Good selectivity: efficient separation of various isomers and various isotopes.
  • Wide application range: not limited by component content.
Applications
  • Petrochemical industry: analysis of most raw materials and products.
  • Electric power: determination of dissolved gas in the transformer oil, and check the latent fault of the transformer.
  • Environmental protection: analysis of air pollutants, water, soil, and solid waste.
  • Agriculture: monitoring of pesticide residues in crops.
  • Commercial: inspection and identification of food quality.
  • Medicine: a study of human metabolism and physiological functions.
  • Drug and clinical: analysis of ethanol, anesthetics, and amino acids in the blood; analysis of some volatile drugs. Identify the type of drug poisoning or disease.
  • Spaceship: automatical monitoring of the gas in the sealed compartment of the spacecraft.

Chromatography Pumps

Chromatography pump is an associated equipment of overall chromatography system. These pumps are used to pass a pressurized liquid solvent containing the sample mixture through a column filled with a solid adsorbent material, leading to the separation of the sample components. We offer a variety of chromatography pumps for your choice.

Chromatography Systems

Chromatography systems include all the equipment needed for sample separation, a power source and program software. Important considerations when selecting a chromatography system are the chemical and physical properties of the substance such as chemical reactivity, size, mass and shape and requirements of the laboratory, such as flow process, validation requirements and sample tracking.

Chromatography Columns

Chromatography is an analytical technique that separates components in a mixture. Chromatographic columns are part of the instrumentation that is used in chromatography. Columns play a central role in the performance of chromatographic process. Well-packed columns with consistent performance in the whole design space of a process will deliver consistent product recovery and separation from contaminants.

Chromatography Detector

A chromatography detector is a device used in gas chromatography (GC) or liquid chromatography (LC) to detect components of the mixture being eluted off the chromatography column. The function of the detector is to convert the change of the sample composition and content in the chromatographic column effluent into a signal that can be detected.

Chromatography Fraction Collector

The fraction collector is typically a rotating rack that can be filled with test tubes or similar containers. If the chromatographic separation is not for pure chromatographic analysis, but for other spectral identification, or to obtain small-scale preparation of a small number of test samples, fraction collection is necessary, and fraction collector collection is ideal and accurate in operation.
