GE Healthcare ImageQuant LAS 4000 Variable Mode Imager System, GE Healthcare (CAT#: STEM-E-2061-LGZ)

Highlights

1. Capture true 16-bit images and accurately quantify weak and strong signals over three orders of magnitude in the same image, time-consuming and expensive multiple film exposures are avoided. This is in stark contrast to movies, where the dynamic range is non-linear, 1.5 orders of magnitude or less.
2. Can accurately quantify blots up to 21 x 14 cm in size. The 3.2-megapixel Fuji CCD chip (11-micron pixel size) can provide up to 6.3-megapixel image resolution through a unique diagonal pixel configuration.
3. The camera is usually cooled to -25°C (max -35°C) by a two-stage thermoelectric module for longer exposure time. This provides the user with less background, which is especially important for precise quantification of very weak signals in chemiluminescent western blots.

Description

The manufacturer of GE Healthcare ImageQuant LAS 4000 Variable Mode Imager System is GE Healthcare. Model is LAS 4000. The ImageQuant LAS 4000 is a camera system for producing digital images of gel or membrane samples or films. It is used with ImageQuant LAS 4000 control software to: expose chemiluminescent samples or thin films. Expose fluorescent samples, such as ethidium bromide (EtBr)-stained gels, using an exogenous (incident) or trans (transmitted) light source. The ImageQuant LAS 4000 is available with NIR, red, green, blue and UV epi lamps. Expose stained gels and membranes or films using epitaxy or trans illumination. Expose a sample repeatedly, incrementally, or through a programmed exposure protocol.

Features

4. ImageQuant's LAS 4000 camera is equipped with a large aperture Fuji F0.85 43 mm lens, one of the best in the industry. This enables the instrument to capture the chemiluminescent signal by Western blot down to picogram levels of the target protein. Sensitivity can be increased to 8 x 16 pixels. The cameras have automatic or manual capture modes and exposure times (1/100th of a second to 30 hours).
5. Using a scanner to scan film for quantification may introduce artifacts and further complicate the quality of your results. The LAS 4000 features distortion, dark frame and flat frame correction for each imaging mode for optimal accuracy.
6. GE's quantitative software lets you find your lanes and bands at the click of a button. After a few more steps, you can subtract your background and quantify your band from the time it takes to draw the box around your band in ImageJ.
