Hollow NSOM Imaging Probes can be used for high peak power laser pulses, and can be used for IR and very deep UV regions that conventional fiber probes cannot transmit, such as 10 micron IR wavelengths or vacuum UV wavelengths below 180 nm. These probes have very high damage thresholds, making them particularly suitable for nanolithography and highly localized metal removal using femtosecond laser pulses.
