Introduction

Thrombin is a specific and important serine protease that is applied in many physiological, pathological operations and life process such as the blood coagulation, inflammation process and thrombosis. The interesting roles of thrombin include the cleavage of soluble fibrinogen to insoluble fibrin and effect on the catalysis protocol of many coagulation reactions. For diagnosis of some coagulation abnormalities-related diseases, the thrombin is also used as a biomarker.
Intelligent polymers are materials that undergo a physical or chemical change in response to external stimuli such as stress, temperature or pH. Hydrogels are one of the examples of intelligent or smart polymers. Hydrogels are hydrophilic, three-dimensional networks composed of homopolymers or copolymers that are formed from chemical or physical crosslinking. They are highly bio-compatible and their physiochemical properties which are similar to the native extracellular matrix promote the bio-compatibility of the hydrogels.
