Description

G-Biosciences' Immobilized p-Aminophenyl Phosphorylcholine consists of phosphorylcholine covalently attached to beaded agarose and is designed for the purification of C-reactive protein from plasma, ascites, and other biological fluids.

C-reactive protein (CRP) is a pentameric protein found in the blood whose levels rise in response to inflammation, making CRP an acute-phase protein. Its physiological role is to bind to phosphorylcholine expressed on the surface of dead or dying cells (and certain types of bacteria) to activate the complement system.

The more economical immobilized O-Phosphorylethanolamine can also be used as a substitute for immobilized p-aminophenylphosphorylcholine. Immobilized O-Phosphorylethanolamine successfully purified C-reactive protein.
