Description

The manufacturer of Life Technologies iBlot 2 Dry Blot System is Thermo Fisher Scientific. Model is iBlot 2. The iBlot 2 Gel Transfer Device is an integral part of the iBlot 2 Dry Blotting System, which includes a transfer device and consumable transfer stack containing the required buffers and transfer membrane (nitrocellulose or PVDF). Buffered ion reservoirs are incorporated into the gel matrix (transfer stack) rather than buffer tanks or soaked paper. The high density of ions in the gel matrix enables rapid transfer of proteins. During blotting, the copper anode does not generate oxygen as a result of water electrolysis, reducing blotting distortion (conventional protein transfer techniques, including wet, semi-wet and semi-dry, use inert electrodes to generate oxygen). The distance between electrodes is shortened, the electric field strength is high, the current is large, and the transmission time is shortened. Trapped air bubbles, often in sandwich layers of hand-prepared blots, are easily avoided due to the defoaming design that promotes uniform and complete transfer.
