Description

Membrane bioreactor (MBR) is a sewage treatment system that integrates biological treatment and membrane filtration. It is used to remove pollutants and contaminants from wastewater to produce high-quality wastewater that meets regulatory standards for discharge or reuse. In an MBR system, wastewater is treated in a bioreactor where microorganisms break down organic matter and remove nutrients. The treated water then passes through a membrane filter, which removes any remaining solids and pathogens. The process allows the production of highly purified and pollutant-free wastewater. MBR systems are usually used in urban sewage treatment plants, industrial wastewater treatment facilities, and domestic sewage treatment. They are known for their high treatment efficiency, compact size and ability to produce high quality effluent. However, they are more expensive to operate and maintain than conventional wastewater treatment systems.
