Metal Slag Testing

Metal slag is the waste produced during the smelting of metal minerals and is a type of metallurgical waste. According to the production process, it can be divided into two categories: molten slag formed during pyrometallurgy and residue discharged from hydrometallurgy. According to the properties of metal minerals, it can be divided into heavy metal slag (such as copper slag, lead slag, zinc slag, nickel slag, etc.), light metal slag (such as red mud produced by refining alumina) and rare metal slag.

For a long time, non-ferrous metal slag has been treated by open-pit stacking, which not only occupies a large amount of land, but is also subject to atmospheric erosion and rainwater leaching, causing pollution to soil, water and atmosphere. Nonferrous metal slag containing harmful substances such as lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury poses a threat to residents and the environment in the accumulation areas.
