The centrifuge accelerates to a maximum of 6,600 rpm, then decelerates and stops within a few seconds for efficient operation. It has a transparent lid for observing the sample during the rotation cycle; there is also an electronic safety cut-off device that will deactivate the centrifuge when the lid is opened.
