Short column bed heights (20–300 mm) are commonly used for group separation, particularly desalting, while longer bed heights (100–600 mm or even up to 1000 mm) are suitable for fractionating proteins and polymers with varying molecular weights or sizes. Short bed height columns, ranging from 1 mL to several liters, include options like NmTRAP, NmSCREEN, NmPREP, NmVALID, NmLOAD, and NmPILOT. Longer bed height columns, ranging from 20 mL to 750 mL, are also available for advanced applications.
For hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC), a variety of columns are prepacked with polymer-based HIC resin families such as NanoHR (PS-DVB), UniHR (PMMA), and Uni (PMMA), or sugar-based resins like NW Rose (agarose) and NW Rose Plus (agarose). These resins include frequently used functional groups like Phenyl, Octyl, Butyl, and Ether. HIC columns vary in size and hardware materials, with small columns (1–5 mL) designed for early-stage media screening, medium columns (10–50 mL) for method development and optimization, larger columns (100–500 mL) for method characterization and validation, and prepacked pilot-scale columns (2–10 L) for larger purification and product preparation needs.
Ion exchange chromatography (IEX) columns are offered with prepacked polymer-based resins such as NanoGel (PS-DVB), Nano (PS-DVB), UniGel (PMMA), and Uni (PMMA), as well as sugar-based resins like NW Rose (agarose), NW Rose Plus (agarose), and NW Dex (dextran). These IEX resins include functional groups such as SCX (SP), SAX (Q), WCX (CM), and WAX (DEAE), catering to a wide range of purification applications.
