Packard TopCount NXT is a high performance scintillation counter with high sampling capacity and throughput. This high-efficiency model provides low background counts for beta, gamma, and glow-emitting samples in 24, 96, and 384-well microplates and microvials.
Each TopCount scintillation counter is equipped with unique counting technology to ensure superior performance. This patented single photomultiplier tube (PMT) time-resolved counting method, when used with opaque plates, results in virtually crosstalk-free counting.
High sensitivity was achieved using time-resolved liquid scintillation counting (TR-LSC) technique. The method distinguishes background from true counts by analyzing the decay period of each scintillation event, resulting in high signal-to-noise ratio, superior sensitivity, and linearity over a wide dynamic range.
The fast photon counting and temperature control found in the TopCount NXT Scintillation Counter make it an ideal counter for luminescence analysis. The unique circuitry incorporated into this Packard model is capable of counting more photons per second than most dedicated microplate luminescence detection systems. Each counter is equipped with a small pmt with low inherent background. Typically difficult-to-measure applications such as small and low count rate samples receive high signal and low background with the help of specialized pipelines.
Users can insert the TopCount external stacker, which contains up to 40 microplates, for a fully automated counting process. Luminescence samples can produce more than 50,000 samples per day. Operators can also easily load new plates and unload counted Packard scintillation counters without interrupting the counting process.
