Paper Electrophoresis

Paper electrophoresis is one of the zone electrophoresis, and the supporting medium of it is filter paper. An electric field is applied to filter paper permeated with buffer to make charged molecules migrate according to the electrophoretic phenomenon.

• Preparation
  Prepare electrophoresis buffer with a certain pH. Cut filter paper to a suitable size and wet it with the appropriate pH buffer.
• Sample Application
  Apply a certain amount of sample solution on the filter paper with capillary tubes, micro syringes or trace pipettes.
• Electrophoresis
  Add an appropriate amount of buffer to the electrophoresis tank to soak the platinum electrode. Place the filter paper. Switch on the electrophoresis apparatus and set the voltage and current. Perform electrophoresis for a period of time (16 to 18 hours).
• Determination
  The separated samples show obvious bands. Stain and dry the filter paper for visible results and record them.

Electrophoresis Systems

An electrophoresis system applies an electric charge to molecules, causing them to migrate toward their oppositely charged electrode. Filter Papers

Filter paper contains at least 95% α-cellulose with a very slight adsorption capacity for qualitative and quantitative analysis. Filter paper serves as the supporting medium in paper electrophoresis experiments.

Pipettes

Pipettes are used to aspirate and dispense larger and specific amounts of liquid. Accurate liquid measurements, dilutions, and transfer is key to most successful laboratory assays and analyses.

Staining Appliances

We provide Gel Staining Boxes made from translucent polypropylene or clear PMP with snap-fit lids. Drain located flush with the bottom minimizes disturbance of the gel during liquid drainage. The box can be used to stain, fix, destain and manipulate gels and membranes conveniently in electrophoresis experiments.
