MicroBeta® is the latest version of the number one microplate liquid scintillation MicroBeta® (Trilux) series from PE.

MicroBeta adds new and improved capabilities for researchers working on all major radiochemistry and luminescence applications. By combining LSC functionality with the simplicity of a plate reader, it can save you considerable time, consumables and waste for your LSC screening application.

MicroBeta2 is ideal for assays using 3H, 14C, 32P, 33P, 35S, 51Cr, 125I and luminescent luminescent labels, as well as other scintillation proximity assays. In addition to microtiter plates, it also counts filters and tubes.

PE has a patented Time-Resolved Liquid Scintillation Counting (TR-LSC) mode that significantly improves counting capabilities for opaque plates and low-energy isotopes. TR-LSC mode using only the top pmt yields close to double pmt co-incidence counting performance.
The unique detector design consists of two photomultiplier tubes (PMT). One is below the sample and the other is above the sample. These count samples simultaneously, in coincidence, which allows for the best counting geometry, superior counting efficiency and the most effective background reduction.
PMT positioning measurements are automatic. The maximum sample height for the 16 and 32 MicroBeta2 is 45 mm, and for instruments with robotic loading racks, the maximum sample height is 20 mm.
A truly flexible cartridge sample change mechanism provides a flexible system for different sample types. Microtiter plates, microcentrifuge tubes, 4ml liquid scintillation counting (LSC) vials and special PE filter pads can be loaded into the instrument at the same time.
A standard barcode reader allows recognition of 100 protocols and other counting commands. An optional microplate barcode reader can read the front as well as the right side of the plate.
