Description

The Perkin Elmer GeneAmp 9700 PCR Thermo Cycler System is designed for high sample volume polymerase chain reaction (PCR) applications including DNA and RNA. Users can take advantage of the model's heated lid and insulated frame's oil-free operation. The graphical user interface of this PerkinElmer model enhances the user experience and provides clear instructions for hassle-free programming and operation.
Exchangeable sample blocks fit into the system, allowing easy expansion from 0.5 mL to 0.2 mL in the 96-well format. These auxiliary instruments increase the flexibility of the unit. User selectable block and 0.5mL modes of operation. Sample block temperature can be displayed in block mode. This capability is inherited from previous models, including the DNA Thermal Cycler and DNA Thermal Cycler 480.

Taking the 9700 Thermal Cycler Up a Notch

The Enhanced GeneAmp 9700 is an automated model equipped with a control panel with elastic keys and full numeric keypad. Time and temperature profiles are displayed on the graphics screen for each run.
The Perkin Elmer GeneAmp 9700 PCR Unit is available in a variety of formats. Blocks are interchangeable to accommodate a wider range of tubes and well plates. The system also features a small footprint, Peltier heating and an easy-to-understand user interface. The GeneAmp 9700 Thermal Cycler is also equipped with an RS 485 communicator and PCMCIA card.

Further improvement plan

MAX mode is an optional addition to the system. This optional approach gives users the freedom to choose among software-driven modes that best suit their needs. Using simulation mode an average heating and cooling rate of 3.5°C/sec can be achieved. In this mode, the system's cycle profile is compared to that of the 9600 model. Power input adjustments can be made in variable ramp mode. Varying the power input allows a range of ramp rates for specialized research applications. Activating Max Mode increases heating and cooling rates up to 5°C/sec. Using the same method, the operator can increase the sample volume up to 100 ul.
