Jasmonic acid (JA) is a plant hormone regulating plant responses to abiotic and biotic stresses as well as plant growth and development, including growth inhibition, senescence, tendril coiling, flower development and leaf abscission. When plants are attacked by pathogenic microorganisms or insects, they release JA to stimulate the production of protease inhibitor, which prevent proteolytic activity of the insects' digestive proteases or "salivary proteins". Besides, JA has an important role in response to wounding of plants and systemic acquired resistance. Jasmonic acid is also converted to a variety of derivatives including the ester methyl jasmonate (EMJA).
STEMart is able to efficiently and accurately detect the content and changes of JA and its derivatives in plant samples based on HPLC and LC- MS platform.
