Plant Magnesium Elements Determination

Magnesium is an essential element for plant growth and development. It is the fundamental component of chlorophyll pigments which can capture solar energy for photosynthetic CO2 assimilation. Nearly 15–35% of absorbed Mg by plants is fixed in chlorophyll pigments. Magnesium deficiency is detrimental to plant growth. In addition, magnesium has a wide range of roles in many plant functions, such as respiration, sucrose transport, N utilization, phosphate metabolism, pollen development, cell division, protein formation, stress tolerance, plant-microbe interactions, and activation of several enzyme systems, such as ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (Rubisco), protein kinases, RNA polymerase, glutathione synthase, adenosine triphosphatases (ATPases), phosphatases, and carboxylases. Therefore, the determination and analysis of magnesium are essential.

STEMart is able to efficiently and accurately determine the content of magnesium elements in plant samples.
