Puncture Test

Puncture testing is used to measure the load required to create a puncture in the material in Newtons, Newtons per meter, pounds of force or pounds of force per inch of thickness.

STEMart carries out puncture testing on films, rubbers or papers, etc. to measure their ability to withstand being ruptured by a probe when force is applied at a constant speed.

Puncture Testing Types

  • Puncture strength testing: Determine the puncture or rupture characteristics of a material. Puncture strength measurements are expressed in force per unit area.
  • Puncture resistance testing: Determine the resistance of a material to the penetration of a probe at a single constant test speed. Different probe sizes and geometries are used to better simulate material strength under different conditions. Puncture resistance measurements are expressed in force units.

Test Material Types

  • Plastics
  • Films
  • Rubbers
  • Papers
  • Fabrics
  • Geomembranes
  • Geotextiles and related products
