Modern vaccine and biological products are commonly produced using specific host cell substrates. Vaccine and therapeutic protein process development requires host cell proteins (HCPs) to be removed from the finished product to eliminate the potential safety risks to patients including unintended immune response, adjuvant effect, and decreased efficacy as a result of product instability. The diverse nature and composition of HCPs makes it difficult to predict the effect any individual HCP will have on patients, or the efficacy and stability of the intended product. Residual host cell protein analysis is therefore a critical requirement for the characterization of vaccines and biological products.
This service provides an assay using automated capillary Western technology with shortened separation time and reduced voltage to generate a pseudo dot-blot with acceptable analytical parameters for HCP measurements.
