The Recombinant Human CAIX Protein manufactured by Seafrom is suitable for cancer therapy and research. CAIX belongs to the family of zinc metalloenzymes. Carbonic anhydrases (CAs) form an enzyme family that catalyzes the rapid interconversion of carbon dioxide and water into bicarbonate and protons, a reversible reaction that occurs quite slowly without a catalyst. One of the roles of these enzymes in the animal body is to facilitate the interconversion of carbon dioxide and bicarbonate to maintain acid-base balance in blood and other tissues while aiding the transport of carbon dioxide out of tissues. Most active sites of carbonic anhydrases contain zinc ions. There are at least five different CA families (α, β, γ, δ, and ε). Carbonic Anhydrase 9 (CA9/CAIX), also known as Membrane Antigen MN (MN) and Renal Cell Carcinoma-Associated Antigen G250, belongs to the α-carbonic anhydrase family. CA9/CAIX exhibits optimal activity at pH 6.49 and is involved in pH regulation and the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide. It is suggested that CA9 might play a role in controlling cell proliferation and transformation and is considered a novel biomarker specific to cervical cancer. Storage Information: The lyophilized (freeze-dried) form can be stored at 4°C for 24 months, while the reconstituted liquid can be stored at -20°C for 6-12 months, with a recommendation to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
