PDGF (Platelet-Derived Growth Factor) is a dimer composed of two polypeptide chains, namely PDGF-A and PDGF-B chains, each with a molecular weight ranging from 12.0 to 13.5 kDa. PDGFs, including PDGF-AA, PDGF-BB, and PDGF-AB, are naturally occurring growth factors that serve as potent mitogens for various cell types, such as smooth muscle cells, connective tissue cells, bone and cartilage cells, and certain blood cells. PDGF is stored in platelet alpha-granules and released upon platelet activation. PDGF plays a role in numerous biological processes, including proliferation, chemotaxis, embryonic neuronal development, and the development of respiratory epithelial cells. PDGFs utilize two distinct signaling receptors known as PDGFR-α and PDGFR-β. PDGFR-α is a high-affinity receptor for each of the three forms of PDGF, while PDGFR-β interacts only with PDGF-BB and PDGF-AB. The lyophilized form can be stored at -20°C. For reconstitution, you can use injection-grade water, saline, culture medium, or PBS. After reconstitution, divide it into smaller aliquots and store at -20°C for 6 months or at -80°C for 12 months, ensuring that the concentration after dilution is not less than 100 μg/mL and avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
