Stem Cell Factor (SCF), also known as c-Kit Ligand, is a hematopoietic growth factor that exerts its activity by signaling through the c-Kit receptor. SCF and c-Kit play a crucial role in the survival, proliferation, and differentiation of hematopoietic cells in the melanocyte and germ cell lineages. Human SCF has lower activity on mouse cells, while mouse and rat SCF have sufficient activity on human cells. The human SCF gene encodes a 273-amino acid transmembrane protein, including a 25-amino acid N-terminal signal sequence, a 189-amino acid extracellular domain, a 23-amino acid transmembrane domain, and a 36-amino acid cytoplasmic domain. The secreted soluble form of SCF is generated through proteolytic processing of the membrane-anchored precursor protein.
The lyophilized formulation can be stored at 2-8°C for 24 months. For reconstitution, it can be dissolved in injection-grade water, physiological saline, culture medium, or PBS. After dissolution, it should be divided into smaller aliquots and stored at -20°C for 6 months or at -80°C for 12 months, with a final concentration after dilution not lower than 100μg/mL. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
