Description

The Recombinant Murine BMP-4 Protein manufactured by Seafrom is suitable for embryonic development and cell differentiation.
BMP-4 is a member of the TGF-beta superfamily of ligands with broad expression from early embryogenesis to adulthood. It plays pivotal roles in mesenchyme formation, epidermal determination, suppression of neural induction, the development of multiple organs, and tissue repair. Mature BMP-4 from both mouse and human share a remarkable 98% amino acid sequence identity. Mouse BMP-4 exhibits an 85% amino acid sequence identity with mouse BMP-2 and a 35%-54% identity with other mouse BMPs. BMP-4/BMP-7 heterodimers are more potent in inducing osteogenic differentiation compared to BMP-4 homodimers. In Xenopus, the heterodimers can induce mesoderm formation, while BMP-4 homodimers provide ventralizing signals for existing mesoderm.
BMP-4 signals through tetrameric complexes composed mainly of type I receptors (primarily Activin RIA or BMPR-IA) and type II receptors (primarily Activin RIIA or BMPR-II). The availability of BMP-4 is regulated by its interaction with various proteins and glycosaminoglycans.
The lyophilized formulation can be stored at 2-8°C for 24 months. For reconstitution, it can be dissolved in injection-grade water, physiological saline, culture medium, or PBS. After dissolution, it should be divided into smaller aliquots and stored at -20°C for 6 months or at -80°C for 12 months, with a final concentration after dilution not lower than 100μg/mL. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
