Scanning Tunneling Microscopy Analysis

Scanning tunneling microscope (STM) allows observation of the arrangement state of a single atom on the surface of materials, facilitating the analysis of physical and chemical properties related to the surface electronic behavior in real time. STM can product atomic images of material surfaces and provide a three-dimensional profile of the surface, which is important for determination of surface roughness, observation of surface defects and measurement of the size and conformation of molecules and aggregates on the surface.
