Macular corneal dystrophy (MCD) is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder. It is a rare pathological disease affecting the stroma of the cornea and is characterized by bilateral progressive stroma turbidity and vision loss, eventually requiring corneal transplantation. The clinical manifestations are diffuse central stroma opacity that gradually spreads around the cornea, resulting in decreased corneal clarity and decreased vision.
