The thermocouple probe consists of a tapered line through a metal-coated glass nanopipette. An external metal coating extends over the extended wire to form a junction where the voltage drop is temperature dependent. The time response of this thermocouple is several orders of magnitude higher than any other existing thermocouple. Therefore, the ability to perform static and dynamic thermal measurements with high accuracy in a very local area is obtained.
