VACUETTE^® Homocysteine Detection Tubes manufactured by Greiner Bio-One International GmbH contain a buffered sodium citrate/citric acid solution (pH = 4.2). The tube are designed for stabilization of the in vivo homocysteine concentration in the blood which will increase the risk of cardio- and cerebrovascular occlusions if increases. Due to the dilution effect of the stabilizer, the result must be multiplied by a factor of 1.11. This compensates the dilution by the citrate.
