The GE AKTA Explorer Chromatography System, officially from Amersham Pharmacia Biotechnology, provides a fast and reliable solution for developing and optimizing any biomolecule purification protocol. Chromatographic techniques are used to produce high caliber solutions at flow rates and pressures compatible with modern separation media.

The AKTA Explorer system uses one working platform for all techniques and sample loads, from μg to g scales. The system can be configured for flow rates up to 100 ml/min (pressure 10 MPa) or 10 ml/min (pressure 25 MPa). Fine-tuned system settings ensure optimal operating conditions for all modern high-performance media. Pre-programmed method templates and optimized system configurations allow for rapid media screening, method screening and optimization, and scale-up experiments, minimizing preparation time. Dedicated method templates provide the most common scouting procedures, including automated media screening and automatic eluent pH scouting for ion exchange chromatography.

UNICORN®, a control platform that handles all AKTA systems, including AKTA Explorer. The platform controls production systems on a kilogram scale. The UNICORN platform ensures fast, simple communication and an optimized approach to production-scale processes. The unique combination of AKTA system configuration and UNICORN® control guarantees fast results with a minimum of steps.
